Intro to Finger-crochet Boerum HillFG

Learn crochet without a hook — your hands are the tool. This beginner-friendly 2-hour class at NYC Resistor covers the basic chain, stitches, and joining, culminating in a foundational piece you can work into a scarf, headband, or small bag. Taught by NYC artist Lo, who describes it as a meditative practice. Mask required. 18+. 5–7pm.

Locksport Workshop

FREE · Hack Manhattan

A hands-on lockpicking workshop at the Midtown volunteer hackerspace, with tools provided by The Open Organisation Of Lockpickers (TOOOL) and taught by a Hack Manhattan member. A great low-stakes intro to the mechanics of locks and security. 7–9pm.

Every 3rd Friday at Delight Factory: improvised ambient sound and live visuals in a fully open-participation format. Bring an instrument, plug in your synth, sign up for a VJ slot, or just stretch out on the bean bags and take it in. A drone foundation is provided; musicians and visual artists layer on top. Piano, Rhodes, and percussion on hand if you need gear. 8–11pm.

Why I built Fourth Space

One of the best parts of this city is that, although the rent is high, there are practically infinite free (or very cheap) activities and events for every niche. I love finding interesting things to do which scratch my technology and artistic itches, but I find it takes significant time and effort to find that perfect thing to do.

So! I put this site together to share a curated list of activities and events for geeky people who, like me, find joy at the intersection of arts and technology or are just looking for a fun, interesting way to spend an afternoon!
